I ordered the imperfect darner as a way to save some cash as I start my mending journey and it's perfect in every way! The packaging is beautiful and the accompanying instruction book and link to how-to videos were the a huge help getting started.
Since receiving my loom a few weeks ago, I’ve mended many pairs of my hand-knit socks and am working on a much loved but very moth eaten cardigan. The build quality of all components is exceptional and it’s just a beautiful piece of equipment. Everyone who sees it says , “wow, that’s so cool!” I’m really glad I finally purchased a bundle after eyeing these for over a year. I haven’t yet tried weaving any tapestries yet, but have some ideas in mind for gifts once I finish all the repairs. And of course, happy to support Canadian business. ❤️🇨🇦
I bought this for my partner as a birthday gift so he can learn how to loom and he is so happy with it. The informational videos on the youtube channel are amazing! The quality of the loom is really good and the fact that i could buy local is a plus!! extra points for the adorable packaging that it came in!
This was exactly as described and the accompanying darning needles are the cherry on top. After getting the hang of making sure the fabric tension on my mends was correct (that was the only real learning curve), I flew through my mending pile so quickly that I started offering darning on my local Buy Nothing group! This lil' contraption is actually helping me build local community. Who knew.
I purchased the Swift Darning Loom and Weaving Bundle. The darning loom’s ingenious design and construction is pleasant to handle while also functioning as an effective weaving tool. I’ve never woven before, although I’m experienced in sewing and using a knitting board or loom. My first effort at a mini-tapestry surprised me by looking pretty good, which was due to the clear instructions that accompanied the tools. My second mini-tapestry is more ambitious because I’m making it the full length of the extended board. Next, I’ll be using the darning loom to repair three or four shirts that have been awaiting my attention. The Swift Darning Loom and extended board are beautiful, hand-made tools that are both utilitarian and a pleasure to use. I recommend them!
I am a person of many passions and a desire to mend… but a million other crafty dreams! The Swift mending loom got me so excited and helped me to fix long-forgotten socks in need of darning! This tool is so beautifully made and the zine + whole package was so beautiful! I love using it- its almost like I want my clothing to get holes now
I just got my swift darning loom yesterday, and although i still have some skill building to come, i love it already. I have in just the 1 day i have had it repaired 2 pair of pants. This is my new favorite toy
This is a great little tool and wonderfully made. You can see the care and the craftsmanship. I practiced on a few old socks to get the hang of it, and I’m looking forward to mending a lot of things and keeping them out of the landfill. It took me a little bit to get the hang of it and figure out which yarns worked best, but the YouTube channel is very helpful and I feel confident after only a few socks! And I should also add, I’ve washed and worn the socks several times and the patches I did are holding up great. :)
Did my first use of the loom on a grey cardigan…my skills require honing but the loom was helpful. I just wish the metal was a mm or two thinner.
Hi Wendy - that's great, I'm so happy to hear you dove in right away on a repair. I'm sure you'll refine all the little details quickly, and you'll be so proud of your patches ❤️✨
We have discussed offering a finer-gauge version, but it isn't feasible with our design -- the hooks are made from 2mm bicycle spokes, and carving the wood much thinner than we already do might weaken the structure. We stuck with a middle-size that works pretty well at all but the thickest and thinnest applications, and built to last! hope you enjoy it and can pass your swift darner on to generations of future menders ❤️
Loving my little loom. It makes patching holes do quick, neat and easy. Thank you
I have a cheap mass produced cheap loom and it never gets used. The metal edges are so sharp it can literally slice and the working surface is so small. Elysha and Scott’s loom is such an incredible upgrade. The loom is handcrafted to such an amazing quality. The spokes are nice and hefty, giving a great tactile feel. You know it’s made to last. The base is nice and big and allows me to make patches significantly bigger than any other mass made mending loom. And that’s with just the standard size I bought! Upcycled materials is the cherry on top of an amazing product. HIGHLY RECOMMEND you treat yourself.
The mending loom is so well thought out and fun to use. Wishing my sweater had more holes.
Such a great kit! I love that I can make more than one style if ornament from one kit!
I was gifted a Swift loom for the holidays and downloaded the e-guides to go with it. This was a really helpful explanation of how to use it. Very clear and concise!
Not only is the quality great, but it’s almost magical. From packaging to product, I highly recommend.
I received the XL bundle and it was “perfect”! I just got into darning, mending and just trying to reduce waste in my life. This bundle came with everything I need to start my journey! I am having fun using it and looking for anything that needs mending or just adding a little life into something plain. I love how the materials used to make the swift is recycled. I want to show it off! Thank you for creating this wonderful tool!
I have been following along on tiktok for a while and finally went ahead and bought it this past December - I love it so much! I am actively looking through my sweater and old clothes to find places to patch and practice my darning loom work! It's got a bit of a learning curve but it only took me one try to get it down, and I've been enthusiastically practicing ever since!
I really enjoyed using this darning loom, especially that it can handle thicker yarn. I took it to Starbucks this week to teach a friend how to darn using a mushroom vs a loom. I was able to add a full sole to a very fragile pair of handknit socks thanks to the nice long platform. So many people came over to check out the "cool machine". A big hit :-) I was happy to turn people onto darning.
One note, you can darn with sock yarn but it's loose. I'd recommend 2 strands of sock yarn (laceweight), DK, or even worsted weight yarn for a good thick patch.
It's a great loom and it makes a beautiful clear shed. The included needles and comb are nice as well. And it was wrapped beautifully too. Thank you for making the 'imperfect' looms available, I love mine!
My wife loves it. Easy to follow instructions. She is a dedicated knitter and had completed two visible mends within the first day of receiving the kit.
