Come hang out! We're hosting three monthly events focused on building both crafty repair skills and community.
Worth Mending is based out of Kwartzlab Community Makerspace in Kitchener, so most events we organize will be at The Lab.
Sometimes we're lucky to partner with other community orgs too, so watch for off-site events! Details will be posted to the Google Calendar at the bottom of this page.
Mend Your Clothes drop-in
→ First Wednesday of the Month (starting February 5 2025)

All skill levels are welcome to join our community mend-in! Bring something in need of repair, and practice the skills to make your loved clothes last. We'll keep track of how many garments we work on -- and keep out of landfill each month ♻♥
Basic supplies such as thread, yarn, fabric, buttons, needles, scissors etc will be available for your mending needs. If you are looking to do a more complex job that requires specialty items such as zippers, snaps, or technical fabrics, please try to source those supplies yourself or contact me to see if what you need is available from my stash.

Be Gay, Do Crafts drop-in
→ Last Saturday of the Month (since June 2024)

Join us for a casual afternoon of 2SLGBTQ+ pride-themed crafts and community-building! We will have supplies and seasonal craft ideas prepared that you can drop in and create, or bring your own project to work on in queer company. This is a drop-in event, come and stay as long as you’d like.

We love a clothing swap and we're excited to host one! This is a queer-centred space that we are inviting everyone to join -- we joke, "allies welcome if you have cool clothes".
There's nothing quite like the feeling of seeing pieces you love(d) go off to new loving homes. Bring your old favourites and your clothing donations alike - anything not claimed from the swap will be sorted for use in rag rugs and local reuse before being donated. Clothing, gently used shoes, and housewares/textiles are all welcome.
To keep it simple, we are not collecting items in advance this year. Just drop by our event with your items, stick around to share a story and a laugh and browse everyone's treasures~

Kwartzlab is on the second floor of 145 Bedford Rd and is stair access only. Masks are encouraged, and available free of charge at the door. None of the windows in our building open, which has been a big part of why Kwartzlab has held on to encouraging masked events - we love PPE and making spaces more accessible in ways we are able.
