First Mennonite Looms:

In February 2025, Kitchener's First Mennonite Church transformed their sanctuary into a more flexible layout that uses chairs rather than the traditional wooden pews. Worth Mending had the opportunity to purchase some of the pews, which we've reworked into darning looms!

These Darning & Weaving Bundles are made using wood and upholstery fabric from the original First Mennonite pews, in addition to our standard stainless screws/bike spokes & birch plywood.

About the Darning & Weaving Bundle:

This Swift Darning Loom bundle brings together tools and instructions for visible mending and small tapestry weaving. It includes the loom, a 9-inch XL work surface with weaving holes, two weft picks, two shuttles, sewing needles, cotton thread for warping, and a long stretchy tie. Two instructional booklets help you get started, and a snap pouch made from secondhand-sourced or deadstock fabric keeps everything together. Add yarn from your own stash for your weaving projects.
