Mindfully Made

What's old is new again! We seek out broken hardwood furniture to carve small batches of these precious looms. The wood is sanded to a fine finish and left bare, so that it will develop a beautiful patina with age and use.

Each of the work surfaces is unique in character, and in many cases the original finish is left intact as a hat-tip to the previous life that the wood has already enjoyed.

Learn more about our process here.

Multifunctional

A woven patch can repair or embellish all manner of things! Use this loom to darn your socks, sweaters, blankets, scarves, decorate your hoodies, jeans, hats, cuffs... As long as you can place the work surface behind with the loom on top, it's good to go.

Contact Elysha to request a tutorial you don't already see on our YouTube channel :)

Next-level Multifunctional

Ours is the ONLY mini darning loom that transforms into a mini weaving loom!

Follow along with the written instructions or linked videos to learn the basics of tapestry weaving. All you need is the tiniest amount of scrap yarn to get started, plus the cotton warping yarn included in your kit.

Then, make a bookmark, dollhouse rug, miniature art, try two-shaft lacemaking or nature weaving, make a tiny tapestry, a woven ornament for your tree, a brooch... Truly, your options are sky high just with one kit and a little creative pondering!

Reclaimed Materials

We love upcycling. We're basically bipedal raccoons. We delight in finding a clever reuse for something discarded. We also know quality, which your Swift Darning Loom will deliver for generations to come. This product is made with:

  • Reclaimed hardwood (could be maple, ash, oak, etc.) from broken furniture
  • Stainless steel bike spokes, sourced secondhand
  • Solid birch plywood
  • Stainless steel screws

Generous Dimensions

A pocket-sized powerhouse. 14-hooks and a rectangular work surface (3 x 4.5" plus 3 X 9" for the XL board) to maximize your darning/weaving space while minimizing production waste -- win-win!

Functional Art

Life has been hectic since I received my worthmending loom. I have not had a moment to try it out, but I have taken in out and read through the thoughtful instructions. It is a beautiful object and seems to have been shaped from a recycled hardwood flooring plank - bonus! It is a beautiful object that will be such a pleasure to use to escape and unwind after a busy day at the office. Thanks for making wonderful functional art:)

i love my loom

I was so excited to get this loom and have already put it to work on some tops and jumpers which needed repair. I'm so stoked that it's the perfect way to use bits of yarn which aren't enough for a full project. I took it to mending club and everyone was intrigued and duly impressed.

A simply beautiful and delightful way to darn!

I saw an old video of this darner being used as it travelled around the world. While I have a modern speedweve, something about watching the motion of this one being used spoke to my heart so I ordered it and I’m thrilled that I did. It was beautifully presented in its carrying case, with everything I needed to use it except a project and some colorful thread. Once I sat down with it, I got to experience its wonderful craftsmanship and it the smooth way the hooks flipped back and forth. It’s really a work of art and a source of all kinds of positive feels. The rectangular darning decks are a terrific size for mends large and small and offer the ability to do things a round speedweve can’t. Next up: learning to weave with it. I can’t wait!

Love, love, love!

Since receiving my loom a few weeks ago, I’ve mended many pairs of my hand-knit socks and am working on a much loved but very moth eaten cardigan. The build quality of all components is exceptional and it’s just a beautiful piece of equipment. Everyone who sees it says , “wow, that’s so cool!” I’m really glad I finally purchased a bundle after eyeing these for over a year. I haven’t yet tried weaving any tapestries yet, but have some ideas in mind for gifts once I finish all the repairs. And of course, happy to support Canadian business. ❤️🇨🇦

Starting with mini-tapestries

I purchased the Swift Darning Loom and Weaving Bundle. The darning loom’s ingenious design and construction is pleasant to handle while also functioning as an effective weaving tool. I’ve never woven before, although I’m experienced in sewing and using a knitting board or loom. My first effort at a mini-tapestry surprised me by looking pretty good, which was due to the clear instructions that accompanied the tools. My second mini-tapestry is more ambitious because I’m making it the full length of the extended board. Next, I’ll be using the darning loom to repair three or four shirts that have been awaiting my attention. The Swift Darning Loom and extended board are beautiful, hand-made tools that are both utilitarian and a pleasure to use. I recommend them!

Wonderful little tool!

This is the right way to learn the art of darning. From my very first attempt, my mends have been pretty. I’m showing them to all of my friends. Everyone thinks the garments are better mended than they were brand-new. I’m enjoying this very much!

Fabulous, Handmade Tools!!!

Thank you so very much for sending me the deluxe pkg of tools - they are an absolute JOY to hold in one’s hands! So smoothly finished and the little manual is a great info refresher. These were bought for a GrGranddaughter’s present though I’m trying it out first. I really appreciate the thought & care you put into designing and creating it.

Gift for my wife

My wife loves it. Easy to follow instructions. She is a dedicated knitter and had completed two visible mends within the first day of receiving the kit.

Beauty, quality and Function!

When I received my kit and opened all its components, I was blown away by the care in its creation. Something beautiful to repair with, and make my old items beautiful and functioning again. Well done. I found it through Holli Yeoh’s new book. Worth every penny to come all the way to Australia ! Thank you

Learning new things

Overall, I love the way it's designed. It's going to take me awhile to get familiar with using the loom. Only issue I've had so far was the shuttle tip broke off during my first use. It's still usable as long as I use the other end to guide. I would also like to see you post some videos about using the loom and starting projects with the loom.

Justin, sorry to hear that about your shuttle, though I'm glad you're otherwise enjoying your loom set. This sounds like a manufacturing defect, so if you would like us to send you a replacement please send me an email!

I have a few videos up about weaving with the loom, though I am happy to share that I did just finish my 'how to weave' guide book! It will be available soon both digitally and in hard copy.

keep on learning new things !! ❤️✨

Intuitive design

I was able to darn a hole in my favourite sweater the first time I used the kit. It was easy and intuitive.
The step by step guide was very handy.
I'm looking forward to using it as a loom to make Christmas presents this year.

That's amazing, Lauren! I'm so happy you found loom darning intuitive and easy. And how exciting to use it to make gifts... if you get the chance to email photos I would LOVE to see what you come up with!! ♥

I Love This Loom

Elysha and Scott make a high quality product that is very unique for today's mass produced world. They fabricate all the parts by hand, and a lot of care goes into each loom. Their products are made to last a lifetime, or for generations.
What makes it even better is that there are videos available to help with learning how to begin the weaving process for a beginner like me.
There are several ways to stay in contact with Elysha via email or Instagram.
I enjoy supporting small businesses like this.

I plan to buy the darning and weaving bundle and just wonder when they will be back in stock. Don't suppose I could put in a pre-order??? Anxious in Bellingham, WA USA :)

Worth Mending

Hello! Thanks for your inquiry. I'm so sorry, I know that us not having inventory has really been an inconvenience this winter. We are looking to have a small shop update on/about March 7th, and again the week of the 20th, before getting back to our regular, larger(it's all relative) batches. In truth, we don't do pre-orders because it adds extra stress on our end. We prefer the clean and simple "we make it, you order it, we ship it" system heheh. And I also don't think the payment processors enjoy seeing unfulfilled orders on our system, at some point they start to withhold payouts too which you can understand gets complicated :) I appreciate you reaching out and hope to get you a lil kit asap! <3
