The Great Swift Mending Migration

Did you know that the Swift Darning Loom is named for the bird? It ended up a fun play on words because "swift" is also associated with speed (and our darning looms help you darn quicker, and tidier!), but as avid nature lovers it's a hat tip to our feathered migrating friends.

We have three special Darning and Weaving Bundles travelling the world on this "#MendingMigration".

How does the Mending Migration work?

  • Get in queue: when it's your turn, I'll connect you with the current host to get the kit mailed your way
  • Patch, darn, weave to your heart's content ❤️💫
  • Take lots of photos, and complete either a written or audio reflection for our Mending Migration blog
  • Add your story to the travelling "Passport" (guest book)
  • Pass it on! 💌

Who can join?

You can!

Are you enthused about visible mending, curious about slow fashion, keen to support our Worth Mending magic, an eager guest blogger?

The Migration is open: you don't need a platform, a public social media profile, or even any mending experience in order to participate. It's all about passion!

We'll collect your photos/media and publish everything under Worth Mending, though you are also welcome and encouraged to share your process and experience however you please :)

How long is each Migration stop?

Each host has the Mending Migration kit for 3-4 weeks, so plan accordingly!

This duration is meant to allow ample time to play...but not so much time that it gets set aside and forgotten, you know? I am happy to accommodate a longer stop in certain cases. Communication is key!

What am I responsible for, as a Mending Migration Host?

As a Host, you will:

  • Darn and weave with the travelling Darning and Weaving kit as much as you can 🪡🧶 completing at least one project to share on our blog.
  • Provide photos/videos of your work, and answers to the discussion questions about your experience
  • Be in regular email contact with Elysha before and during your stop
  • Make sure the kit is complete and in good repair before sending it off
  • Arrange postage and shipping to the next person (reimbursement is available for this cost)
