Give Your Clothes Some Love!

You've heard of Valentine's Day, Galentine's Day, but how about a little celebration of love for your hard-working garments? No repair too small or too big. Bring your mending pile and let's get your clothes fixed up.

Our focus will be on Visible Mending, whether for knits, woven, or stretchy clothes. We'll talk through the best techniques for your needs, and then you'll have time to work on your repair(s) in good company.

Location: Kwartzlab (145 Bedford Rd in Kitchener, 2nd floor)
Date/time: Feb 22, 1-4 pm and 5-8 pm (2 sessions)

• Vegan treats and hot drinks will be available for your snacking desires.
• All materials provided, but if you need a patch or thread that is a perfect match for your repair it's best to bring those supplies with you.
• Classes may be cancelled if fewer than 4 participants register (or the weather is extra awful, or an instructor is sick). Once you have registered, please keep an eye on your email inbox for updates.

Choose your own adventure! Beginner skills you'll learn might include:

• Basic hand-stitching techniques
• Basic sewing machine instruction
• When to mend something by hand vs. by machine
• When to sew a patch over a hole vs. darning it
• Tips on caring for your clothes to make them last longer

We will have lots of patching fabric, thread, needles, sewing machines and (hopefully) just about anything else you can think of available for your mending needs. Bring questions, bring your own project to work on, or practice your chops and stitches using our samples.
