Our darning loom started its Canadian leg in with a very special stop in Toronto with Sharon Abel.
Sharon darned the knee on her son's jeans using our darning loom.
"LOVE the portability."
Our darning loom got quite the whirlwind tour of the big city, tagging along to all manner of errands and other busy-mom-life things: "The loom came with me to the park, along a TTC streetcar, to quite a few work meetings and to waiting for dinner at Lahore Tikka House. Also to church, the church picnic, and waiting in line at the bank. LOVE the portability."
But what made this stop extra special was exactly where it ended up for the Take Your Loom To Work Day part! Sharon works with Yonge St Mission, where "we've started an Upcycling Studio space to rescue textiles that might otherwise have ended up in a landfill, and have been working with local upcycling artists to run workshops."
Community members at YSM's Monday night mending group got to know the Swift well, working together to weave this lovely, blue and green geometric tapestry:
How wonderful to get our Canadian tour started in company of such vibrant community spirit. We're all looking forward to finding out the adventures it gets to next!
à bientôt!
